History students at the University of Lincoln can found out more about the county’s past thanks to a donation of books to the library.

The Society for Lincolnshire History and Archaeology presented the university with a complete collection of books published by the society.

Professor Brian Winston, Dean of the Faculty of Media & Humanities, accepted the donation from Pearl Wheatley, chairman of the SLHA, at a local history day at the university over the weekend.

“We are most grateful to the SLHA for this very generous donation,” said Dr Andrew Walker, principal lecturer in History.

“This will form a most valuable addition to the university’s local history book collection and will be of great benefit to our history students.

“We look forward to accommodating these books in the university’s new library, the former Great Central Warehouse.”
