A Hull lecturer will walk the equivalent of a marathon across a golf course on Saturday (26th June) to raise money for cancer research.

David Currie (35), Head of Human Resource Management at the University of Lincoln, plans to play five and a half rounds of golf 100 holes at Brough Golf Club in East Yorkshire.

Around 400 shots and 26 miles later he hopes to have raised a significant amount of money for Cancer Research UK.

Well be starting at four oclock in the morning and we think it will take us about 12 hours to get finished, said David, who lives in Brough.

To keep it interesting and stave off loneliness David will be tackling his golf marathon with fellow golfer Tony Ferguson.

The pair have been sponsored by Unisys and Davis Freight Forwarding in Immingham.

Ive been playing golf since I was ten and Im still improving, said David.

Lots of people I know have been affected by cancer so Im keen to raise as much money as possible for this good cause.

If you would like to sponsor David and Tony contact the University of Lincoln on 01522 886042.
