The University of Lincoln will be a hive of activity in the middle of August when
A-level students get their results.
Students will receive their results on Thursday 19th August 2004, and those who have not managed to get a place at a university of their choice will get a second chance through the Clearing system.
Clearing is the final stage of the UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) applications process and exists to help students who are still without a place in higher education after receiving their results.
Around 100 academics and admissions staff will be staffing the University of Lincoln’s Clearing call centre for a week to take calls from students, answer their questions and offer students places on courses starting in September 2003.
The clearing hotline number for all students is 01522 886622 and the call centre will be open as follows:
Thursday 19th August 8am to 8pm
Friday 20th August 8am to 6pm
Saturday 21st August 9.30am to 4pm
Sunday 22nd August 10am to 3.30pm
Monday 23rd August onward Normal office hours 8.30am to 5pm
The university will also stage special clearing open days at its campuses in Lincoln and Hull to allow school-leavers to check out the facilities before they decide to enrol:
Lincoln Brayford Pool Saturday 21st August 10am – 3pm
Thursday 26th August 10am – 3pm
Hull Friday 20th August 10am – 3pm
Tuesday 24th August 10am – 3pm
“It can be a stressful time for students when they finally receive their exam results,” said university spokesman Jez Ashberry. “Our aim is to minimise their anxiety and to give them helpful and friendly advice which will set them on the right path to a university education.”
