STUDENTS PLAN A WACKY WEEK FOR CHARITY

It will be fun and mayhem at the University of Lincoln next week as students raise money in the annual RAG week.

RAG (Raise And Give) week starts on Monday 19th April and numerous wacky events are planned for the seven days following, including an under-the-sea themed parade through the city centre.

Among other events, fund-raising students will be offering a helping hand to people in the community. In exchange for donations volunteers from the university will wash your car, clean your windows and paint your fence – all in aid of charity.

The students will also be taking part in a litter pick in a bid to tidy up the community and help the environment.

“RAG week gives students the opportunity to raise money for charity and have fun while they are doing it.  I hope that in years to come it will become a regular and high-profile event at this university,” said Pippa Simmons, Students’ Union Co-operative Deputy President Education and Welfare.

Proceeds from all the events during RAG week will go to the following local and national charities:

The National Society of Epilepsy

Royal National Institute for the Blind

The Teenage Cancer Trust

NSPCC

Whizz-Kidz - The Movement for Non-Mobile Children

Meningitis Research Foundation

STRUT in the Community (Short Term Respite Unit Trust Ltd)

Shelter

Lincoln Community Partnership Programme

Lincoln Homestart

Everyman - Action Against Male Cancer
