27th April 2004

A new collection of work by radical American illustrator Sol Robbins is currently on show exclusively in Hull.

The exhibition entitled ‘Only In America’ has been shipped over from the United States on loan for exhibition at the University of Lincoln’s EICH Gallery.

A special evening will be held at the university on Tuesday 4th May where people will get the chance to meet the illustrator and see his work.

The evening will begin with a talk by the artist himself at 5.30pm in the Saville Lecture Theatre in the Derek Crothall Building, George Street.  This will be followed by a reception at the EICH Gallery.  The evening is free and all are welcome to attend.

Sol Robbins has spent his life concentrating on social and political subjects.

The exhibition is a collaboration with the Hull School of Health and Social Care and the European Illustration Collection based at the University of Lincoln in Hull.

The EICH (European Illustration Collection Hull) Gallery comprises a loan collection of over 1,000 original illustrative works belonging to London publisher Edward Booth-Clibborn.

The exhibition is open daily Monday to Saturday from 10am until 4pm and will run until 4th June 2004.
