Lincoln volunteers are invited to an award presentation evening next week at the University of Lincoln to celebrate the community’s most devoted volunteers.
Lincoln Volunteer Bureau, in association with the University of Lincoln, Millennium Volunteers, Connexions and the Experience Corps, will be holding their volunteer celebration awards on Monday 1st December.
There are eight award categories, including the University of Lincoln’s most dedicated community volunteer, which will be presented by the university’s Vice Chancellor, Professor David Chiddick.
The award categories are: group showing most commitment to the community, most dedicated over-50s volunteer, young person’s champion, leadership, the Lincolnshire Echo City of Lincoln volunteer and two awards for triumph over adversity.
The Lincoln Volunteer Bureau, which was launched last year, formulated the idea for the awards in which the people in the community nominate volunteers they believe deserve recognition.
Prizes for the award winners have been donated by a number of organisations including Chicago Rock Café the Theatre Royal, the Odeon Cinema and the Newport Arch Chinese restaurant.
Guest registration will take place at 7pm in the Alstom Atrium and the award ceremony will start at 7.45pm in the Jackson Lecture Theatre on the Brayford Pool campus. Refreshments will be available before the ceremony.
The Lincoln Volunteer Bureau is also giving those who have considered volunteering the chance to find out about opportunities in the Lincoln voluntary sector. Potential volunteers will be able to meet organisations that are currently seeking recruits in a volunteer ‘drop in’ session.
The session will take place before the award ceremony between 4pm and 7pm in the Alstom Atrium in the main building on the Brayford Pool campus.
Admission is free and open to all for both events. If you would like to attend the award ceremony please contact Sophia, Pam or Shelagh on 01522 886922 or email email@example.com.
