MAKING A DONATION IS IN THE BLOOD AT UNIVERSITY

It’s official - staff and students at the University of Lincoln are the lifeblood of their community.

The university has won a special award for recruiting the highest number of new blood donors in the region.

At its latest donor session in March staff at the university’s sports centre recruited 219 new donors, the majority of whom were students.

Sports facilities manager Helen Evans will receive a special plaque of recognition at an awards ceremony in Doncaster next month.

“We hold sessions approximately every six months in the university sports hall and we have a high number of returning donors because we send them a letter reminding them when the next session will take place,” Helen explained.

“The response from our students and staff seems to get better each time we hold a session.”

Helen will receive the plaque at a supporter loyalty award ceremony to be staged by the National Blood Service at the Earth Centre in Doncaster on 24th November.

The next blood donor session will be held at the university’s sports hall on Thursday 4th December.
