One of the UK’s leading investigative reporters is to launch a major new series of talks on journalism at the University of Lincoln later this month.
Phillip Knightley, a member of the famous Sunday Times Insight team of investigative reporters which exposed the Thalidomide scandal, will give the first lecture in the series entitled ‘Journalists speak out on journalism’ on Monday 29th September.
Other speakers lined up include the Head of News and Current Affairs at Channel 4 and the Editor-in-Chief of The Big Issue.
Knightley, who has also written seminal histories of war correspondents and the intelligence services, will speak on ‘The truth about investigative reporting’.
The talk will take place at 6 pm in the Cargill Lecture Theatre in the main building at the Brayford Pool campus. All are welcome and admission is free.
“The university’s Journalism degree course is one of our most popular programmes and we are rapidly developing a Department of Journalism which is the envy of other universities,” said a university spokesman.
“We are very excited about the calibre of the speakers lined up in this new series of lectures and we hope the people of Lincoln will take the opportunity to hear what they have to say on this important subject.”
