The first students to graduate with an MA in Fine Art from the Lincoln School of Art & Design are to stage a special exhibition next month to showcase their work.
The five artists, who will graduate in the new programme at Lincoln Cathedral in January, are staging their degree show at the Greestone Gallery on Lindum Hill.
The work of Janice Glew, Evangelia Basdekis, Janice Kok, Thanos Stavropoulos and Jackie Wowk will be on show from Friday 5th to Monday 8th September with a private view on Friday 5th September.
“The exhibition will celebrate the work of the first graduates from the MA Fine Art programme,” said Jayne Bingham, head of Fine Art at the University of Lincoln.
“There is work here that is exuberant, that shouts loudly, and work that is quietly epic.
“It is for us now to complete the creative process through this invitation to contemplate such observations.”
Janice Kok is a painter who has taken as her subject matter biodiversity ‘hotspots’. She currently has exhibitions in Hull, Barton-on-Humber and London.
Thanos Stavropoulos will display a video installation informed by strong autobiographical elements.
Evangelia Basdekis has explored the artist’s role in relation to the clown, while Jackie Wowk presents the usual in an unusual context through the medium of film.
Janice Glew is an fine art painter whose affinity with the Cornish countryside of her birthplace is the starting point for her landscapes.
To attend the private view from 6pm until 9pm on Friday 5th September contact the Greestone Gallery on Lincoln 895050. The exhibition runs on Saturday 6th, Sunday 7th and Monday 8th from 10am until 5pm.
