Four Fashion students and a Fashion graduate from the Lincoln School of Art & Design have been given bursaries to support the development of their work.
Students Ashley Johnson, Donna Pattison, Alexis Sheffield and Audrey Harmston and graduate Liz Seeds received bursaries of between £200 and £250 from the Lincolnshire Arts Supporters Society.
In October last year two lecturers from the university’s Fashion department - Carol Brown and Kathy Gaul - visited LASS to exhibit students’ work and give an introductory presentation to around 150 members of the society.
In March this year LASS representatives interviewed individual students who had been nominated for bursaries. The successful students were presented with their bursaries at the school by LASS representatives Marie-Terese Pumfrey and Kate Midgley.
Ashley Johnson was awarded £250 to support his final major project - a collection of menswear focusing on tailoring techniques while Alexis Sheffield was given £250 to finance the cost of a mannequin to support her design work.
Donna Pattison won £200 to support her final collection of womenswear designs, enabling her to purchase quality fabrics and to finance the development of her 2D work in preparation for preparing her portfolio for forthcoming interviews.
Audrey Harmston was awarded £200 for her commitment to her studies and to purchase further equipment in support of her 2D/3D design work.
Liz Seeds graduated in Fashion Studies in 2001 and has since been working full-time as an administrator to support her freelance design work. Liz has now established her own business in Lincoln, designing and manufacturing bridal gowns and occasional wear. Her bursary was awarded to support her new and growing business.
“Congratulations go to all the successful students who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to their studies, and continued thanks to LASS for their ongoing support of the Fashion programmes,” said Carol Brown.
