25th March 2003

Staff and students at the Lincoln School of Art and Design are inviting artistic and creative pupils to find out more about a future in art and design at a further education open evening tomorrow (26th March).

Fashion and Textiles, Graphic Design, Photography, Theatre Crafts, Conservation and Restoration and Product Design are just some of the many National Diploma and AVCE courses on offer to pupils aged 16 and over.

Project work from each subject area will be on display during the open evening and tutors will be available to discuss the course content and the various options.

The open evening runs between 5.30pm and 8.30pm at Chad Varah House on Wordsworth Street and light refreshments will be available.

At 6.30pm there will be a formal presentation providing general information about the history of the school, accommodation, courses, fees and progression, but the remainder of the evening will be informal to allow visitors to peruse the projects.

“What many pupils may not realise is that the National Diploma qualification is equivalent to three A-levels,” said Stewart Bibby, event organiser.  “It is an ideal opportunity to study a subject you enjoy and gain a recognised qualification at the same time.

“The open days are an opportunity to take a look at the work of our current students, meet the staff who teach the courses and ask any questions you may have.  You don’t have to make any decisions on the day but application forms are available.”
