2nd January 2003

A performance of Mozart’s Divertimento for String Trio in E flat will be one of the highlights of the latest classical concert sponsored by the University of Lincoln.

The third concert in the University of Lincoln International Concert Series takes place at The Lawn on Sunday 19th January and will feature the following programme:

o       Bach Cello Suite no 1 in G major

o       Pagannini Caprices for solo violin

o       Mozart Divertimento for string trio in E flat, K563

The concert series began in October last year and is being staged thanks to a new collaboration between artistic director Graham Oppenheimer and the University of Lincoln.

“Mozart’s majestic Divertimento is perhaps the greatest work ever written for the string trio combination,” said a university spokesman.

“Our January concert will also provide an opportunity for us to welcome the German cellist and leader chamber musician Christoph Richter for the first time.”

Making up the string trio will be Mi-Kyung Lee (violin), Graham Oppenheimer (viola) and Christoph Richter (cello).

The performance begins at 3.30pm after a pre-concert talk at 2.45pm. Tickets cost £8 (£7 concessions), £3 for students and under-16s.

Further information and tickets are available from The Way Ahead Box Office (tel: 0115 9129000) and tickets are also available on the door (subject to availability). Information leaflets can be obtained from Tourist Information Offices in Lincoln.

Dates for the remainder of the series are Sunday 2nd March 2003, Sunday 6th April 2003 and Sunday 11th May 2003.
