STUDENT DESIGNERS GET TIPS FROM INDUSTRY INSIDERS

Product Design students at the University of Lincoln had an insight into the design  industry when they visited the UK studios of Ron Arad Associates in London.

The students are all first-years who have signed up for the university’s new degree in Product Design which was launched this year.

“Ron Arad Associates exhibited a substantial amount of work for their various clients at the 2002 Milan Furniture Fair and it was for this reason that we wanted to visit their UK studios at the start of the current academic year,” said David Bramston, a lecturer at the Lincoln School of Art & Design.

“The visit enabled the students to gain a valuable insight into the work of Ron Arad Associates and to put questions to members of the design staff.”

Last summer National Diploma Product Design students went on a study tour to some of the world’s most famous 3D designers and manufacturers in Milan.

The trip included a visit to the Milan furniture fair where students developed important contacts with high profile manufacturers such as Kartell, responsible for some of the world’s most innovative furniture.

This year’s level one Product Design degree students and members of staff are currently planning to attend the 2003 Milan Furniture Fair in April next year.
