A graduate from the Lincoln School of Art & Design has illustrated her talents by winning an award from the Society of Artists’ Agents.
Tracy Oliver, who graduated from the University of Lincoln in July with a degree in Illustration, has been named as the winner of the bronze prize in the Student Section of the SAA Illustration Awards.
Tracy (22), of Church Street, Scunthorpe, will be presented with a cheque for £100 by
the artist Peter Blake on 22nd January 2003 at London’s Transport Museum, where an exhibition of the winning illustrations will commence with a private view.
Her design for a poster on the theme of Transport for London took the London Marathon as its subject and aimed to reflect the capital’s diversity of culture and character.
“I was surprised to hear about the award because I’d almost forgotten that I’d entered the competition,” said Tracy, who attended North Axholme School and John Leggott College before enrolling at the University of Lincoln.
“I’m really looking forward to attending the exhibition because I’ll be able to make some good industry contacts and hopefully make some progress in my career.”
The exhibition will run for three months and will be accompanied by a catalogue to mark the occasion and showcase the winners’ artwork.
“Tracy’s award is a great way for our Illustration course to kick off the new semester,” said a university spokesman.
“The competition was professionally peer reviewed which gives Tracy’s achievement even more weight.”
