10th October 2002

Two media students from the University of Lincoln in Hull will experience the glamorous world of film next week.

Matt Smith and Emma Fletcher will be part of a team working at the Hull International Short Film Festival (16th – 20th October).

The second annual festival will showcase around 180 of the best short films from around the world and will also feature guest speakers, discussion forums competitions, parties and give-aways.

Matt and Emma, both 19 and studying for an HND in Media Technology at the university’s Cottingham Road campus, will be working at the festival hub – Boom Bar on Prospect Street.

“We’ll be doing all sorts of things, from looking after the festival video library and promoting the events to making sure the directors are happy with everything,” said Matt, who lives on Princes Avenue.

Festival director Catherine Litchfield said: “The festival is the mark of the particular and is a celebration of the creative act and the universal ability to imagine. We intend the festival to create a lively and interactive atmosphere, bringing together a range of people from a variety of backgrounds and lifestyles to share a communal environment.”

Screenings will take place throughout the festival at Hull Screen, the Adelphi, the Ferens Art Gallery, Boom Bar and Lamp Bar.
