A film produced by Media Production graduates from the University of Lincoln is in line for a Royal Television Society student award.

‘The Montpellier Exchange’ produced by last year’s graduates Philip Arkinstall, David Smith, Matthew Taylor and cinematographer Andrew Ellis, has been nominated in the non-factual undergraduate category.

The winners will be presented with their award at the Royal Television Society student awards dinner (central region) in Birmingham on 2nd November.

“We are competing with all the universities between here and Birmingham who have media students so it’s a great achievement,” said Media Production lecturer Christine Bellamy.

“We have been successful in receiving a nomination from the RTS each year since  2000 - the first year we had Media Production graduates at this campus – so our students have done very well.”

‘The Montpellier Exchange’, a short film noir mystery thriller, is unusual in that it was shot using digital technology.

“Using digital video technology offers similar results to film,” said Philip. “It offers greater opportunities for filming in remote locations, is much cheaper and is ideal for making low budget films.”

The film was shot last winter at a number of locations around Lincolnshire including Skegness beach and Harlaxton Manor near Grantham.
