18th September 2002

Scots indie rockers Idlewild have been confirmed as the mystery guest act at the University of Lincoln this weekend.

Freshers’ Week will reach its climax from 20th to 22nd September with what’s being billed as one of the city’s biggest ever musical events at the Brayford Arena on campus.

Top acts including The Bluetones, Scott Mills, Whigfield, and Adele from Big Brother will provide the entertainment on Friday and Saturday.

And Idlewild will be appearing at the university as special guests on Sunday evening (22nd September) – doors open 7pm.

Idlewild took their name from the quiet meeting place in the book ‘Anne Of Green Gables’ by Lucy Maude Montgomery.

The band has released three albums to date - ‘Hope Is Important ‘ (1998), ‘100 Broken Windows’ (2000) and ‘The Remote Part’ (2002) - and will support Coldplay in October and November on their UK and European tours.

Supporting Idewild this weekend will be The Beatings and Audiogene.

Tickets for the Idlewild gig cost £16 and are available only to University of Lincoln students. For more information call Lincoln  886142, 886642 or 886730.
