Students are planning one of the city’s biggest ever musical events to welcome new freshers to the University of Lincoln later this month.
Freshers’ Week (15th to 22nd September) will reach its climax on 20th and 21st September when top acts including The Bluetones and Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills will appear at the Brayford Arena on campus.
The Wicked Weekend will also feature Whigfield, Adele from Big Brother 3 and singer-songwriter Matthew Jay.
And the identity of a massive mystery guest act lined up to headline the weekend on Sunday 22nd September is set to be revealed at the Freshers’ Fair next Tuesday (17th September).
“The entertainments team at the Students’ Union Co-operative has planned what is likely to be the biggest musical event in Lincoln for a long time,” said Adam Heyhurst, entertainment officer at the Students’ Union Co-operative.
“A lot of time, money and effort has gone into the transformation process of the university sports hall to turn it into a suitable space to host such an event.”
The wicked weekend starts on Friday 20th September with Siren FM’s own DJ Diggerz and a personal appearance by Whigfield – the voice of hit singles ‘Saturday Night’ and ‘Sexy Eyes’. Joining them will be Adele from Big Brother and Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills.
Live music takes centre stage on Saturday 21st September with Bocca, critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Matthew Jay (‘Please Don’t Send Me Away’, ‘Call My Name Out’) and indie legends The Bluetones, fresh from a UK tour.
Tickets for the entire weekend cost £38 in advance (£40 on the door) and are available only to University of Lincoln students. For more information call Lincoln 886142, 886642 or 886730.
