A web site designed for Hull Film by a Finnish student at the Hull School of Art and Design has been chosen as ‘site of the day’ by software firm Macromedia.

Second-year exchange student Timo Koro (23), who comes from Helsinki, has just spent a semester studying for a degree in Interactive Multimedia at the University of Lincoln in Hull.

As part of his course work he developed a web site for Hull Film on behalf of the design co-operative Fuzi (http://www.fuzi.co.uk).

Macromedia, who develop much of the leading multimedia software for web designers, chose the site as ‘site of the day’.

On their own web site (http://www.macromedia.com) they comment: “This innovative film site merges the visual appeal of Macromedia Flash with the simplicity of XML to make the dynamic site easy to keep updated.”

Sarah Humphreys, course leader for Interactive Multimedia at the Hull School of Art & Design, commented: “Macromedia found Timo’s site on the web and highlighted it as a very good example of design and the practical application of their software.

“It really is quite an achievement for the work of one of our students to be recognised in this way.”

Timo’s web site for Hull Film – an organisation based in the Danish Buildings on Hull’s High Street -  can be found at http://www.hullfilm.co.uk
