A new resource for drug education in Lincolnshire secondary schools is to be launched at the University of Lincoln tonight (Tuesday).
Hands Up! has been devised and produced by Lincolnshire’s Drug Education
Advisory Group - a group of teachers from county secondary schools - under the co-ordination of the Lincolnshire Drug Education Advisory Team.
Hands Up! is an innovative and versatile resource comprising a video, a CD-ROM and a range of lesson activities which address drug-related issues building on the work done in primary schools and in year 7.
The Drug Education Advisory Group has aimed to meet needs identified by Lincolnshire school pupils and has followed advice from other agencies including HM Customs & Excise, the police and the NHS.
Fourteen Communications students from the University of Lincoln and Communications lecturer Russell Foster were involved in the production of the video which forms part of Hands Up!
The students are Helen Langdale, Alexandra Blinkhorn, Richard Dainty, Nichola Efford, James McCracken, Chris Sexton, Andrew Yates, Catrin Perkins, Stennet Chesser, Eleanor Rolinson, Joanne Hannify, Rebecca Wyatt, Keith Turner and Steve Pitwell.
The launch event takes place this evening at 7.30pm in the atrium in the main academic building at the University of Lincoln.
