Managers at North East Lincolnshire Council are to hone their skills on a training course provided by the University of Lincoln.
Fifteen managers at the council have enrolled on two management development programmes provided by the university’s Faculty of Business and Management.
Managers and tutors from the council and the university met at Hull Business School on Cottingham Road in Hull to launch the collaboration between the two organisations.
The managers will follow a nine-month course delivered mostly on campus and will aim to achieve either a postgraduate certificate or a postgraduate diploma in Management.
“Corporate management development programmes such as these are becoming more and more an important part of what we do in Hull,” commented Dr Don White, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Management at the University of Lincoln.
“From next year we will relocate our business and management activities in Hull to George Street, which will be the base for the new Hull Centre for Management Development.”
Jan Finch, Director of Human Resources at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “Working in the public sector is different to working in the private sector but this has never been reflected in traditional management qualifications. For the first time we have qualifications tailored to provide the skills and knowledge this council needs. I wish the students every success.”
