Law students at the University of Lincoln continued their rich vein of winning form when they won through to the semi-finals of the Weekly Law Reports National Mooting Competition last night (Thursday).

Having already defeated the University of East Anglia and York College of Law, Nichola McCarthy (31) from South Kelsey and Debbie Hough (36) from Woodhall Spa beat the University of Sheffield 88-83 to reach the last four of the prestigious competition.

This is the first year that students representing the Law Society at the University of Lincoln have entered the mooting competitions, which are mock courtroom trials between teams of student lawyers from across the country.

The national mooting competitions include the Weekly Law Reports, Oxford University Press Blackstones, The English Speaking Union, Jessop and the Midlands Mooting Ė and so far no Lincoln team has been knocked out of any of the competitions.

The students are now looking forward to competing in the semi-finals of the Weekly Law Reports, which will take place at Lincolnís Inn, the Inns of Court for barristers in London.

The semi-finals will take place on 18th March at Lincolnís Inn with the final scheduled for 26th April at the headquarters of the Law Society in London.
