University of Lincoln student Edward Brindle is to join an RAF representative cricket team on a week’s tour in Spain.
Edward (19) from Crowtree Lane in Louth, who is a first-year Forensic Science student, has been selected to play for the Bears Cricket Club which comprises present and retired RAF officers as well as guest players.
“My brother was a guest player on their team and now I have been invited,” said Edward. “It should be good fun and I’m looking forward to it.”
The team, in which some of the players are selected from different RAF bases across the country, will play three games against a Spanish select XI in May.
Edward has spent the last few years playing for Louth Cricket Club and was also invited to attend the Nottinghamshire School of Excellence in 1995. He is due to graduate in the summer of 2004 and his ambition is to follow a career related to his chosen area of university study.
“I’m a bowler who thinks he can bat,” he said. “For the time being though I’m concentrating on my studies but who knows where I might end up.”
