Former England and Leeds United striker Allan Clarke will be a guest speaker at the sports ball at the University of Lincoln early next month.

Mr Clarke will be presenting the club colours to commend players from the university’s sporting teams including football, hockey and rugby.

The event, organised by Antony Calvert, the Vice President of Sports and Recreation at the Students’ Union Co-operative, is looking forward to welcoming the star.

“It’s fantastic and very positive that we’ve managed to get such a high profile name to come to Lincoln,” he said.

Mr Clarke, who scored the winning goal in the 1972 FA Cup final against Arsenal, was a British record transfer in both 1968 and 1969 and was leading scorer at Leeds United for four consecutive seasons. He also has 19 full England caps to his name.

The sports ball is to be held at the County Assembly Rooms in Bailgate at 7.30pm on Tuesday 5th March.
