At only 24 years of age a Hull TV & Film Design graduate has taken on the challenge of setting up his own production company.
Shrink-wrapped Productions Ltd was the brainchild of Barry George, from Rushden, Northamptonshire, who graduated from the Hull School of Art & Design in 1999.
The company, based in Hannington, Northants, specialises in television, corporate, commercial and music video production as well as software engineering and was set up in February this year by Barry and two colleagues.
And in the space of only ten months the company now boasts a corporate client list including BT Cellnet, Samsung Electronics, Orange, Nationwide and Unilever and their music videos and television work have featured on Sony Entertainment Television Asia, B4U Music and MTV to name but a few.
“We all started out working for a local cable company,” commented Barry. “ But we soon realised there was potential in the area to set up our own company and to operate nationally so we joined forces and, with backing from a local water treatment firm, set up Shrink-wrapped Productions Ltd.
“It’s been hard work but we’ve built up a strong national client base. Although there are only three of us working full-time and one part-time we are able to cope with most projects, but regularly call on freelancers for larger contracts.
“Shrink-wrapped is now diversifying into other areas such as event management and multimedia design to ensure what will hopefully be a successful future.
“Studying TV & Film Design in Hull was useful as it allowed me to be creative and think laterally. This is essential for survival in an industry which is so competitive.”
