2nd October 2001
Students and teachers are invited to take part in a citizenship workshop organised by the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside in Lincoln on 25th October.
The workshop, to be held at the Judges’ Lodgings, is aimed at lower sixth form and further education students interested in studying social policy or related subjects at university and for teachers required to teach citizenship.
Citizenship education is now part of the national curriculum and will be a compulsory subject from September 2002 in secondary schools.
The workshop has been organised by the university’s Department of Policy Studies in association with the Acting Out Company, a drama-based groupwork agency.
“The aim of the day is to introduce participants to the notion of citizenship, the environmental and social conditions which best promote good citizenship and mutual respect,” commented Charlie Cooper, Principal Lecturer in Social Policy.
The workshop will take place at the Judges’ Lodgings from 10am to 4pm on Thursday 25th October. If schools are interested in sending teachers or students they should contact Emma Godsall 01522 886286.
