DESIGNS ON GARDENING AT UNIVERSITY

The Lincolnshire School of Agriculture will hold a garden design and horticulture open day this Saturday (15th September) at the Riseholme campus north of Lincoln.

Demonstrations, garden tours and information on garden design and horticulture training will take place from 10am until 4pm at the school, which is now part of the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside.

The open day, which is based around the horticulture unit at the School of Agriculture and the Riseholme Plant Centre, will feature several practical demonstrations.

Visitors will be able to view illustrations of garden design plans and layouts, watch a demonstration on propagation and learn how to prepare their lawn for the winter.

Guided tours of the gardens will take place explaining the designs used by students and the practical use of groups of plants and trees.

Visitors will also be able to find out about garden design and horticulture training at the School of Agriculture. Courses include the full-time National Diploma in Horticulture and the part-time Royal Horticultural Society Certificate and Diploma.  Part-time City and Guilds programmes also on offer include the Certificate in Gardening and the Advanced National Certificate in Garden Design.

Visitors on the day will have the chance to win a visit by a garden designer who will offer advice and guidance on what could be done to improve their garden.

The Riseholme Plant Centre will also be open for sales of a wide selection of seasonal plants.
