The growing reputation of Lincoln’s university as a venue for live music will get a boost later this year when ‘Battle of the Bands’ is staged on campus.

The semi-finals and finals of the competition – organised by soundLINCS, the Lincolnshire Music Development Agency – will be held in the Delph Bar at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside in December.

And the eventual winners will get a free recording session in the university’s 24-track recording studio as a prize.

Bands who enter the contest will compete in five heats staged across Lincoln beginning in September and concluding in November. Venues lined up for the heats include The Falcon, Yates’ Wine Bar, The Wild Life on Birchwood Avenue and the Lincoln Imp.

Bands, solo artists and DJs are invited to enter, though priority will be given to bands from the Lincoln area.

The semi-final at the university at 2pm on Saturday 1st December will feature five bands and tickets will cost just £3. The final on Thursday 6th December will be contested by three bands and tickets will again cost £3.

Entry to the competition is free for bands and artists. The event is funded by Lincoln City Council in association with East Midlands Arts.
