A Lincoln criminology lecturer has been awarded a share in a  substantial research grant by the Home Office.

A sum of £89,379 was awarded to Dr Bankole Cole, senior lecturer in criminology at the University of Lincoln at the end of June.

The grant is part of a £300,000 research project, in collaboration with colleagues from the Universities of Glamorgan, Lancaster and Swansea and is to fund research into criminogenic needs of offenders.

“Receiving this grant will help to further improve the reputation of an already thriving institution,” said Dr Cole.

“We are keen to set develop asup a centre of excellence for research within the criminology department subject and recognition from the Home Office is a great help,” he added.

Dr Cole has been working at the university for 11 years and was based in Hull before coming to Lincoln.  He said, “This is not my first research grant but it is one that I am very proud of.”
