Members of the public attending the Lincoln Water Carnival next month will have the chance to visit an open day at the University of Lincoln and view the campus.
Student ambassadors will be present throughout the weekend to lead informal tours and show off the university’s TV studios and new sports centre.
This year, the university is looking forward to becoming more involved in the carnival than in previous years, which is held at Branford Pool on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th July.
“We are really excited that the university is contributing in a much bigger way and their open day, especially, will be a great bonus for the carnival,” said Andrew Deighton, who is Events Officer at Lincoln City Council.
Jacqueline Mayer, the university’s Education Liaison Manager, said: “Visitors should enjoy the art and craft fair in the atrium of our main building and at the same time will be welcome to have a good look around.”
Refreshments will be available on both days in the Atrium Restaurant and in the Coffee and Bottle Bar in the main university building. There will also be a barbecue on the patio overlooking the Brayford each day.
Other spectacles planned for the Water Carnival are the Alstom raft race and the Brayford Boat Company “It’s a Knockout”. Various musical acts will perform both in the Main Arena and the Acoustic Marquee Marina Bar and the Saturday evening will close at 11pm with a firework display.
