A tropical paradise themed parade and an Austin Powers night are just two of the wacky events being organised by the university Students’ Union for RAG Week in Lincoln next week.

The Students’ Union have been busy putting together a wide-ranging schedule of events for the week which runs from Wednesday 25th April to Wednesday 2nd May, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief, Scope and the NSPCC.

“This is the first year we have had a RAG week in Lincoln,” said Holly Steans, Vice President of ULHSU. “The aim is to do seven days and nights of intensive fund-raising to raise as much money for charity as possible.”

The week’s events include a performance from signed band Astrid on Thursday 26th April, a tropical paradise themed RAG parade through Lincoln city centre and a race night on Friday 27th April.

The Lincoln Ladybirds, the university’s very own cheerleaders, will be supporting Lincoln City against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday 28th April followed by a cabaret night with local acts in the evening.

The week continues with a quiz night, an Austin Powers theme night and a fancy dress night and finishes with a black tie dinner on Wednesday 2nd May.

ULHSU have received a good deal of support from local businesses, but any additional support would be greatly appreciated.

RAG Week events are open to all students in the region. For further information please contact the Students’ Union on 01522 886142.
