2nd April 2001

Lincoln Ladybirds, the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside’s very own cheerleading squad, have a date in their diary to cheer for Lincoln City on Saturday 7th April.

The team of 17 cheerleaders, all students at the university, have been undergoing a rigorous training regime for the past three months and were delighted when they were

approached by the football club.

“The girls are really excited about the event,” said Kerry Envis, president of the squad. “It will be a good chance to show off all our hard work!”

“Our team is one of the fastest growing at the university,” she added. “Our success is down to teamwork which is important to us both on and off the pitch.”

Lincoln City are looking forward to the extra entertainment at Saturday’s match between Lincoln and Carlisle. “We’re delighted to have the girls here,” said Kerry France, Lincoln City commercial manager. “It’s great to be able to provide further entertainment at the game.”

“It’s also important to be able to further strengthen the links between Lincoln City and the university,” he added.

The team are anxious to raise funds for their outfits which they are having specially designed for them. Any support would be greatly appreciated. Please contact the Students’ Union on 01522 886142.
