Sports centre staff at the University of Lincoln are due to take part in the Interflora 10K run in Lincoln on Sunday to raise money for the city’s St Francis’ School.
Sports centre manager Mark Bradley and a number of his staff are taking part to raise money for the school for pupils with physical disabilities and have been busy preparing for the challenge.
“We have been training hard over the last few weeks so we hope to raise as much money as possible for the school,” said Mark.
Mark visited Colin Dagg, a teacher at the school, a few weeks ago and realised that they needed more resources to buy equipment.
“We are delighted that the sports centre are supporting us,” said Mr Dagg. “Hopefully some of the money will also help us to send four of our children on the Tall Ships Race to Bergen.”
Mr Dagg and a number of staff at the school are also taking part in the run and pushing a hospital bed with some of the pupils, one of whom will be in a wheelchair.
The sports centre staff hope to get involved with sporting events throughout the rest of the year to raise money for various causes.
To help raise money for this worthy cause please contact the university’s sports centre on 01522 886688 or Colin Dagg at St Francis’ School on 01522 526498.
