Two lecturers at The Hull School of Art and Design, have been successful in receiving substantial Arts and Humanities Research Board grants.
Rob Gawthrop, Head of Art, and Jenny Wolmark, principal lecturer in theoretical studies, at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside, were delighted when their applications for research grants, which they made during October of last year, were successful.
The grants will enable Rob to undertake a six month period of research practice titled ‘Aurality: Audio Visual Live Art Practice and Theory; Acousmatics and Phenomenology, and Jenny to undertake research into feminist theory and technology.
“ I am really looking forward to having the time to be able to make and perform this work,” said Rob. “It is also good for the School that Jenny and I have achieved this, particularly as the Arts and Humanities Research Board (AHRB) had not previously awarded many research leave grants for making art.”
“ Our work should also contribute to raising even further the profile of research carried out within the School and the university,” he added.
