A Scandinavian tradition will be honoured at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside next week.

A choir made up of Swedish students will celebrate the festival of Santa Lucia on Monday (6th December) by singing songs in honour of the martyr.

With its bright costumes and candlelights the event will help bring a festive spirit to the university’s Cottingham Road campus.

And it will also provide funds for good causes, as the singers will collect money for charity as they make their way round the campus.

“This will be the choir’s second appearance, as they made their debut on BBC Radio Humberside last December,” explained university spokesman Jez Ashberry.

“There is a strong international flavour to our student body in Hull, and any event which celebrates that diversity is to be warmly welcomed.”

The performance will begin at 12 noon on Monday in the Dales Restaurant at the Cottingham Road campus.
