Two university film-makers are to have their work screened at a national festival which starts today (13th Oct).

Second-year Media Production students Laura Mansell and Jon Rowlands entered the Co-operative Young Film-Makers Festival with One of Those Days, written specially for the event.

The film, which is two minutes long, features a young woman who is writing in her diary after having a bad day and fits exactly the criteria set by the festival organisers.

Laura and Jon, both 20, are now at the festival, which is being held today and tomorrow at Bradford’s National Museum of Photography, Film and Television.

Festival organiser Julia Youd said that young film-makers today have so much talent but few outlets to express themselves.

“The festival gives them the chance to explore whatever issues they choose, express themselves on film and develop new skills while doing it. It’s a popular combination!” said Julia.

The festival is now in its 34th year and attracted 258 entries from schools, colleges and youth clubs from all over the country. Just under half of the entries were selected for screening.
