CHILDREN’S UNIVERSITY GOES ON TOUR
A Children’s University visit to the Lincoln campus of the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside was such a success that more Hull schoolchildren are set to head south next week.
Forty pupils from the pioneering Children’s University visited the new university campus in Lincoln back in April for a tour and a day in the media production centre.
Next week forty more children will stay overnight in halls of residence in Lincoln, getting an even better taste of what university life is like for the thousands of students who enrol at ULH each year.
Bude Park, Dorchester, Kinloss, Lambwath, Sutton Park, Francis Askew, Shaw Park and St George’s Primary Schools will each send five pupils to the Lincoln campus for a two-day visit to the university.
The visits will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday (8th and 9th August) and on Thursday and Friday (10th and 11th August) next week.
Besides touring the facilities, meeting staff and students and working on their own film projects for two days, the lucky pupils will also spend the night in en suite student rooms in the university’s student village.
“The last time we welcomed Children’s University pupils in the spring it was such a success that both sides were very keen to repeat the exercise,” commented Jacqueline Mayer, education liaison manager at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside.
“The pupils who come to Lincoln next week will be taking part in an exercise to improve their literacy, and we hope they will go away with a better idea of what university life could be like for them.”
