NATIONAL PRIZE WITHIN GRASP FOR ANIMATOR TOM
An award-winning learning advisor who studied at Bradford University has had his highly acclaimed animated short nominated for the national Royal Television Society awards.
Tom Hodgson, 30, who works at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside, was production co-ordinator of the project which won Best Animation in the Yorkshire heat of the RTS awards. And now it has been entered for the top award.
His seven-minute animation ‘The Lifters’ begins in live action and only becomes animated when the three thieves who star in the film crash their getaway car through a wall.
Since joining ULH in October, Tom has been supporting the Games, Simulation and Virtual Reality areas of the computing degree at ULH and manages an on-campus computer games library.
At the RTS ceremony in Wakefield in November Tom and the project team collected their prize for the project, which formed part of the final year’s work on the Electronic Imaging and Media Communications programme at Bradford University.
Now an advisor to computing students, Tom, who lives in Hull, is enjoying his new job at ULH, where he advises students on a whole range of day-to-day issues.
The final three animations will be judged for the award at BAFTA on 11th February.
