TREVOR BROOKING TO OPEN CAMPUS SPORTS CENTRE

TV pundit and former England footballer Trevor Brooking CBE will visit the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside in November to officially open the new sports centre in Lincoln.

Mr Brooking, who is the chairman of Sport England, will conduct an opening ceremony for the new facility on the morning of Monday 20th November.

Work on the £5.5 million sports centre was slightly delayed by wet weather earlier in the year but is scheduled for completion in early November.

Inside the sports centre will contain a large multi-purpose sports hall, four squash courts, a multi-gym and an aerobics suite as well as a licensed bar and a refectory area which will be managed by the university Studentsí Union.

Outdoor activities will take place on a full-size all-weather hockey pitch and twofive-a-side football pitches. The site has also been landscaped to provide car parking, an enhancement to the delph drain and a large water feature.

The sports centre brings total investment on the Lincoln campus to around £60 million since it was opened in October 1996.
