STUDENT FILM-MAKERS WIN PRESTIGIOUS PRIZE

Media Production graduates from Lincoln have won the Royal Television Society’s coveted student prize.

Director Lawrence Wright (22) and his team of fellow graduates from the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside scooped the student film prize at the Royal Television Society (Midland Centre) Awards in Birmingham.

The winning film ‘Killing in the Name’ and ‘Ted’, directed by graduate Jon Holmes, have both been nominated for a prize at the national Royal Television Society Awards which take place in London next March.

Thirty-second clips of two videos were shown at the awards ceremony at Birmingham International Convention Centre, where the hosts were TV personalities Bob Holness and Les Dennis.

The Midland Centre awards night is the biggest Royal Television Society event outside London and attracted big names from TV soap operas such as Coronation Street and Brookside.

“It’s wonderful that our graduates have received this major accolade from the world of television for work they created while at the university,” said Press Officer Sam Hendley.
