FRESHER’S START UNIVERSITY LIFE WITH A BANG

A thousand new first-year students due to arrive this weekend at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside are in for a memorable week.

A campus carnival, student cinema, James Bond 007 Ball, open-top bus pub crawl and beach party are just some of the Freshers’ Week events which have been organised by the Students’ Union in Lincoln.

Hundreds of students who have not yet even arrived on campus have already stumped up £25 for a special wristband which entitles them to free entry to all the events.

But members of the public are also being encouraged to come along and enjoy the campus carnival from 2pm on Monday (18th September).

“We’ll have a steel band in the marquee and entertainments such as dodgems, a bucking bronco, stilt-walkers, jugglers, fire-eaters, unicyclists and quad bikes,” said Georgie Hadjigeorgiou, deputy president of the Students’ Union.

“We’re expecting nearly 1,000 freshers this weekend and we’re determined to make sure that they have a brilliant first week at university.”

The centrepiece of Freshers’ Week will be the annual Freshers’ Fayre, where students can find out about the various clubs and societies which exist at the university.
