HONORARY AWARD FOR CO-OP CHIEF

 

Lincoln businessman Keith Darwin OBE is to be honoured by the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside.

 

Mr Darwin will receive an honorary Doctorate of Laws from the university at a graduation ceremony to be held in Lincoln Cathedral on Tuesday 11th July (2.30pm).

 

Mr Darwin, who is chief executive of the Lincoln Co-op and chairman of the Lincolnshire TEC, began his career at the Plymouth and South Devon Co-operative Society as PA to the chief executive in 1967.

 

A native of Gainsborough, he joined the Lincoln Co-operative Society as food trades officer in 1973 and became its chief executive in 1992.

 

He is also a Justice of the Peace, vice-chairman of North Lincolnshire College, chairman of Investors in Lincoln and chairman of the Lincolnshire Economic Action Partnership.

 

He is married with two sons and was awarded an OBE in this year’s New Year honours.
