12th June 2000

Four of the races at Wednesday’s meeting at Beverley (14th June 2000) will be sponsored by the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside.

The university, which has now sponsored the mid-June meeting at Beverley Races for the past 11 years, will play host to over 100 guests at a silver service marquee lunch reception.

VIPs from the university, including the Vice Chancellor, Prof Roger King, and the Chairman of the Governors, Christopher Oughtred, will host the lunch before the first race at the famous East Riding course.

Races on the card include the Lincolnshire Business Development Centre Claiming Stakes (2.20pm, class F), the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside Handicap Stakes (3.50pm, class E), the Hull Business School Maiden Stakes (4.20pm, class D) and the ULH (Holdings) Ltd Fillies’ Handicap Stakes (4.50pm, class E).

The university is contributing £1,500 towards the prize fund and will also give an individual prize for the groom of the best turned out horse in the main race at 3.50pm.

The event begins at 12 noon and runners and riders in the first race are under starter’s orders at 2.20pm.
