For immediate release
Sarah Thornhill from Leicester has accepted a huge challenge. In June 2000 she will set off for Tanzania to take part in “ Kilimanjaro 2000”. Organised by the Youth Hostels Association, Sarah will be joining 50 other people for a special trek which will raise money to support the development of Youth Hostels and enable disadvantaged children and young people enjoy a holiday at a Youth Hostel.
Sarah will be trekking for 6 days to achieve the aim of conquering the mountain. The route uses tracks only accessible on foot, through rain forest, giant heather’s and across moorland ravines, before reaching the peak.
Sarah says, “ taking part in the trek will be a great challenge for me, but something I have always wanted to do. I am also running the London Marathon this year, so am confident that with all my training I will be fit enough to reach the top. I certainly don’t want to let down all the people that have been kind enough to sponsor me”. Sarah has pledged that she will raise at least £2,200 and still has £2,000 to find.

Dear Jo Tel: 0116 2842300
In June 2000, I will be taking up the biggest challenge of my life. I am going to Tanzania to take part in Kilimanjaro 2000 for the Youth Hostels Association. I will be trekking for six days through savannah, rain forest, giant heathers and across moorland ravines to raise money to support YHA’s work developing Youth Hostels and enabling disadvantaged children and young people to enjoy a break at a Youth Hostel.
I have paid £300 towards the cost of the event and have pledged to raise at least £2,200. I need your help to reach my fundraising target. I am asking your company for a £100 donation. If you are able to help, it will bring me that much nearer to reaching my goal.
An excellent way of giving is through Gift Aid, where the government reimburses YHA with the tax you have already paid on the gift (at no extra cost to you). The minimum amount you can give through Gift Aid is £250 but, with the added tax benefits, YHA will receive a total of £324.
Thank you for considering my request, I know I am asking a lot, but with your help we can provide holidays for many more children who are disadvantaged through no fault of their own.
Yes I would like to support Kilimanjaro 2000
Here is my gift of £25 £50 £100 £250 Other£
(Gifts of £250 or more will be worth almost 30% extra )
I enclose a cheque made payable to YHA (England & Wales )
