Culture secretary Chris Smith will tour the extensive media and IT facilities at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside when he visits Lincoln next month.


Mr Smith, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, will also hear about the university’s plans for a new sports facility and will be briefed on the future development of the entire Lincoln campus.


Chris Smith MP is due to arrive at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside at


10.30am on Tuesday 21st March


and be welcomed by Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Jim Whittingham and Councillor Ric Metcalfe, leader of Lincoln City Council.


A one-hour visit to the campus will be followed by tours of North Lincolnshire College’s Sessions House development, the Danesgate City and County Museum site and Lincoln Cathedral, where Mr Smith is expected to visit the Cathedral Education Centre in the old Subdeanery to view work carried out by local pupils under the Schools Adopt Monuments scheme.


After a tour of the cathedral led by the Dean of Lincoln the Secretary of State is expected to leave the city at around 4pm.
