STUDENTS TO GRILL TUC SECRETARY
The General Secretary of the Trades Union Congress will visit the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside on Thursday (2nd March).
Journalism students will quiz John Monks on the latest issues affecting the TUC in a mock press conference at 4pm, which will be followed by a tour of the campus led by Phil Cosker, Director of External Relations for the Faculty of Arts and Technology.
The second-year students will gain an insight into what it is like to question a prominent political figure. Issues likely to be raised will be the minimum wage and the European Working Time Directive.
Mr Monks was invited to Lincoln by the Industrial Mission which promotes a Christian-based understanding of business and the local economy.
He will also be a guest of Lincoln City Council and during his day-long visit to the city will visit North Lincolnshire College, ABB Alstom Power and the university, followed by tea in the Guildhall. At 6pm Mr Monks will give a talk at St Mary-le-Wigford Church on the High Street.
