A Hull man who downed tools to take up a higher degree at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside is now set to graduate with an MSc in Human Resource Management on Friday (21st January).


Former toolmaker Les Bales, who works for the pharmaceutical company Smith and Nephew in Hull, was promoted into Human Resources at the firm and began studying part-time on the university’s Institute of Personnel Development Graduateship programme.


Les, who was the craft union official at Smith and Nephew for many years, successfully completed his professional studies and will graduate from the MSc programme.


He receives his award at 11.30am on Friday at Hull City Hall.
