STUDENTS CELEBRATE GRADUATION SUCCESS

The Bishop of Hull will present 300 students with undergraduate and postgraduate awards at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside’s winter ceremony on Friday (21st January).

The annual event will once again be held at Hull City Hall, where the majority of those celebrating will be postgraduate students.

The Rt Rev Richard Frith, who has made a significant contribution to the city since his inauguration as bishop last January, is the university’s principal guest. The awards will be conferred on the students by the university’s Chancellor, Dr Harry Hooper.

A graduate of Cambridge University, the bishop is said to be enjoying the mix of city, small towns and countryside in his new diocese.

His first position in the Church of England was as assistant curate at Southwark and he was eventually appointed Archdeacon of Taunton in 1992, his most recent position before moving to Hull last year.

The ceremony begins at 11.30am.
