Show-stopping Lincoln students put on a songs from the shows performance involving local schoolchildren at The Lawn in December.

Children from St Faith’s Primary School in the city performed numbers from ‘Oliver!’ and ‘Grease’ with members of the university’s Music and Drama Society as part of the all-singing, all-dancing musical Showstoppers

Songs from Les Miserables and My Fair Lady will form part of the cabaret-style show in the Lincoln Suite at The Lawn.

Thirty university students are involved, working on everything from sound and lighting, to publicity - and after the show is over they’ll begin work on their next production, ‘Good Golly Miss Molly’, planned for February.

Society president Gemma Daly, a third-year Media Production student, is organising December’s show. “It’s a lot of hard work but we’re all having a great time and there’s loads of talent among our members,” she said. “We chose The Lawn because it is a fabulous venue for a performance and should attract quite a crowd.”

Gemma is now looking for local people to help the society out with costume hire as a shortage of cash is making this aspect of the show more difficult. “We would like people to come forward with offers of 50’s style and period costume that we could use in exchange for free advertising of their company in the programme,” she added.

Tickets for the show are priced £6/£4 concessions (students, children, OAPs) and are available from Anna on 01522 534992.

If you can help with the search for costume contact Gemma on 07712 964633.
