A Beverley-based company specialising in battlefield tours was so impressed by the ULH graduate it employed last year that the firm has recruited direct from the university this time around.

International Tourism graduate Helen Blenkinsop, aged 21, is the latest addition to Galina Travel and will shortly be joined by another ULH graduate, Cheryl Thompson, who begins work at the company in August.

“We took on a ULH graduate last year, Julia Robinson, who turned out to be an excellent choice, so we felt encouraged to return to the university to recruit this year,” said Helen’s boss Barry Matthews.

Helen, who will graduate with a 2:1 degree in Lincoln on 8th July, has been at the firm for four weeks and looks after the administration for school trips abroad.

Her command of German, which formed a part of her degree programme, has already come in handy in negotiations with customers in Germany and Austria.

“I’m impressed by the standard of Helen’s work in the time she has spent with us and look forward to welcoming our third ULH graduate in August,” said Mr Matthews.

Julia Robinson, who gained a first from ULH last year, is now in charge of all the administration for adult groups, battlefield tours and self-drive holidays.
